We are thankful for the community’s help during the start-up of the Dream Of Kalamazoo Foundation and our service locations' dedication to rendering professional quality beauty care services to youth in the foster and adoptive care system. We are proud of being able to educate guardians on proper upkeep and beauty care practices for their wards at no cost to them.
Over the past year, the Dream Of Kalamazoo Foundation's demand for services
in the community has increased. Families, agencies, and youth who previously felt unable
to advocate for themselves were given direction and guidance from the Foundation. They are now armed with the confidence to weather any storm related to proper upkeep and beauty care.
Upon assessment of the demand and a full year of providing quality beauty care services, we
have concluded that for the sustainability of the DOKF program, we will be pausing its work for 2024 to focus on addressing our community's more pressing needs.
Our goal is to render uninterrupted services that positively impact the foster care/adoptive
home experience in six ways: by increasing cultural diversity, guardian and youth education, health and wellness, self-reliance, family engagement, and early childhood and youth development for families.
2023 was a momentous year for us as we relished being of service and fulfilling the needs of deserving youth in the foster and adoption care system. We look forward to 2025 to reengage the Foundation's work and continue our services for many years to come.
